8 months ago, Mark was a leader of a large department. His company expansion doubled his responsibility and his salary.
8 months ago, he woke up and realized his level of motivation was at point zero.
What was the reason for that?
He felt tired. Irritated. Faced new challenges he didn’t know how to tackle. People in the new territories didn’t follow through or cooperate well enough. His team’s KPIs were falling slowly.
He couldn’t figure out what to do next. Quit? But that would be too irresponsible. Even impossible given the new responsibilities. Besides, he was the only moneymaker in the family.
And then he read my posts about how one of my clients got in a similar situation and managed to figure it out. So Mark sent me a direct message.
We started working together.
We ran a Global leadership assessment, which perfectly suited the case. We picked stakeholders to be involved in the process, and I interviewed them. This helped identify the bottleneck in Mark’s behavior.
He started asking colleagues and partners from the new territories for suggestions about his improvement as a leader…and received plenty! The feedback helped us craft the perfect action plan and assured Mark he had what was needed to reach his goal. His new employees started to see him as a leader who genuinely listens to others, unites remote workers into an effective team, and helps the company sustain the needed competitive advantage.
It took 8 months to change.
In May we ran the assessment again. You can see the results in the chart below.
So how is Mark now?
Wakes up happier. Enjoys the outcomes of the work.
As he said in the text two weeks ago, as we looked at the results of our engagement:
"Olga, was it easy? Haha. Absolutely NO.
Was it worth it? Definitely YES!"
